Diplomacy this diplomacy that. Tony Blair says that the diplomatic door for the release of the 15 Brits is open. What diplomacy is needed? The Iranians kidnapped the Brits and then put them on Television with a "confession". The only thing that needed to be done was releasing the Brits. In fact, they should never have been taken in the first place.
Now an
Iranian diplomat that was taken in a raid on the Iranian liaison office has been freed. Why do I get a bad feeling about this. When this raid occurred who were the forces going after?
According to the report, the US raid on an Iranian liason office in Arbil, in which five of the office's employees were taken captive, actually intended to apprehend two officials of much higher rank - Muhammad Jafari, deputy head of the Iranian National Security Council, and General Minojahar Frouzanda, head of Iranian Revolutionary Guard intelligence.
It looks to me like forces were trying to capture men who were contributing, and possibly running, the sectarian violence taking place in Iraq. Instead they had to settle for some little fish. What do our British friends have to say about it?:
Also Tuesday, the British "Independent" reported that the British hostage crisis was the result of hostilities between Iran and the coalition forces in Iraq set off in January by an alleged US attempt to abduct two of Iran's leading security figures in Iraq.
So coalition forces are going after instigators of violence and the Iranians respond by kidnapping soldiers in Iraqi waters and then scream to allah that they were in Iranian waters. That's as lame of an excuse anyone can come up with. But then again that's part of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's approach to everything. He's a spoiled punk with power.
I have a bad feeling that the remaining diplomats in custody will be released and the 15 Brits will follow. So much for not dealing with terrorists. The largest supporter of terrorism is going to win this round. The west is cowering at the feet of Islamic terror. People are too busy with their IPods and Internet to face the enemy. They'd rather enjoy driving their $60,000 cars and drink their $500 bottle of wine than have at it with a bunch of vicious punks that are leading us to the brink of extinction. What a wonderful world we have built.
